"It's fine. My grandfather really was a... dumbass."That surprised a snort out of Aragaki. "Didn't expect the Kirijo princess to say that.""Well, it's true. It wasn't him who 'sent' us to fix it, however.""Yeah, your dad was the one who sent us. Like that's so much better. A grown man sending off a bunch of teenagers to do the fighting for him."Irritation and guilt simultaneously pricked Mitsuru's chest. "My father-""-is doing the best he can, I know. Doesn't make this situation any less shit."Mitsuru frowned. "I know. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have dragged you both into my problems."She regretted involving these two in her family's mess. Even though they had the potential to summon Personas, she should have left them alone. Now they knew the truth about Shadows and the Dark Hour and couldn't easily back out.Aragaki said, "Aki. Say something.""Like what?" Sanada said. "I don't really have anything to add.""You're fine with being told to clean up the Kirijo family's messes for them? You don't have an opinion on any of this?"Sanada absently fiddled with a cloth on his lap. "I really don't. I just think that if the world is in danger, I want to help. It doesn't matter whose fault it is. If my Persona is able to fight the Shadows, then that's what I'll do.""See? An opinion. Was that so hard?"Ignoring Aragaki, Sanada met Mitsuru's eyes. He said, "You don't need to keep saying it's your problem, Kirijo. None of this is your fault, and it's not just your problem. It's something we're trying to solve together.""Thank you," Mitsuru said, feeling relieved even though she didn't quite believe him.Aragaki said, "Yeah, none of this is your fault. You can stop acting all big and saying it's your problem." He scratched his palm. "And look, I know it's not your dad's fault, either. I'm just frustrated.""I know," Mitsuru said, faintly smiling."When aren't you frustrated?" Sanada said."Shut up. Both of you."The good humor didn't last long, though, and Mitsuru steered the conversation back on track. "Knowing all of this, are you both still with me?"Sanada smiled. "Not even a question."Aragaki said, "He just likes problems that can be solved with his fists.""Hey.""But, I guess I'm with you too."The tension drained from Mitsuru's shoulders. "Thank you both. Truly.""Don't thank us yet," Aragaki said. "We haven't succeeded yet."Mitsuru suppressed a strangely giddy smile. She had a good feeling about this. "We haven't, but we will."
