After three years away, he returned to a displacement tent in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, carrying the unbearable pain of losing six of his children.During the war, his wife, Hayat, fled Shuja’iyya with their seven children. In December 2023, they became trapped under bombardment inside a home sheltering around 130 people.Hayat remained buried beneath the rubble for hours, holding her two-month-old baby, Eileen. She could hear her crying, but she could not move or rescue her. Eileen was not injured—she suffocated after her mouth filled with dust.Six children were killed: Muhannad, 16; Mohammed, 14; twins Kinan and Rayan, and their sister Layan, all 8; and baby Eileen, who was only two months old.Ahmed learned of his children’s deaths while he was in the West Bank.
